If I recover, will you be my comfort...

Hello there!
This week has been pretty uneventful, but I wanted to give you guys an outfit post anyway. On Monday, Veronica and I went on a date to the movies and saw This Is The End which was insane and amazeballs, definitely our kind of movie. We were running a little late so I didn't have time to take pictures when it was still bright outside.
The top I wore was one of the items I got from the vintage store that we stumbled upon in Capitola. I posted it on Instagram a couple days ago. It's this great 70s-y crochet top that reminds me of cotton candy. I love it because it's pretty Unif inspired and anything Unif is awesome.

Yes I know it's the middle of the week, but I still want to tell you about my super fun weekend!
I told you all last week that we had a heatwave in Santa Cruz. Well the next day, it got colder, so it's finally fall here yay. It hasn't been too cold yet so it's pretty nice.
Anyway so on Friday, Veronica and I went on a little date downtown and went to see The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. I'm still reading the book, but I couldn't wait, and it was totally fine. Okay, I am so in love with this movie! I can't even explain it. From what I've read so far, it stayed pretty close to the book, and Veronica read the whole thing and she loved it too. Just go see it. It might become one of your favorite movies.

I felt like this weekend was just all shopping. Wow that sounds really bad, but it really was just a lot of shopping. Saturday was dedicated to Target as you can see. I can seriously spend hours in that amazing place. Their Halloween stuff is out now too so Veronica and I went crazy. We filmed a little Halloween haul over on her channel which is going up soon. I'll link it in this post later when it's up. Smiles.
On Sunday, we basically spent the entire day thrifting and vintage shopping. I was so exhausted afterwards. Shopping takes a lot out of you, I'm serious. First, we went to Bargain Barn, which is just a warehouse full of goodies basically and went through everything. We were very happy with what we found, I'll tell you that. There might be a haul coming on that stuff too. Later we met up with some Slug Style buddies to look for some photoshoot inspiration. I won't give anything away yet, but I can tell you I'm very excited. I can't wait.

I might be starting up Inspiration Wednesday again soon, and posting some Halloween-y things for you too. I want to celebrate it as much as I can this year since I didn't have the time last year.
So yeah, I hope you guys had an amazing weekend too. xo

Here's our haul from Target. Smiles.

VINTAGE HEAD WRAP AND LEATHER VEST/ SKELETON TANK - BRANDY MELVILLE/ URBAN OUTFITTERS PANTS

So this past weekend we celebrated my mom's 59th birthday. I love that woman. I want to look like her when I'm 59. She's the best and cutest mom ever. Smiles.
We had lunch in Burbank yesterday and then saw The Bourne Legacy which I enjoyed. Her actual birthday is today so my parents and I had lunch before my dad went to work. I spent the entire day with my mom. It was nice.

Some updates:
- I bought The Hunger Games on DVD last week and I've seen probably fifty times already. Smiles.
- Cool things are happening, cool things like guest blogging and night shoots. Can't wait to show you.
- I've been reading a lot lately. I forgot how much I love it.
- Fall is coming soon. I am ecstatic for knits and boots.
- I'm having a big thrift store shopping day soon with the besties Jeff and Eddie. Yay clothes!

See you beautiful people very soon. xo

Crashing from the high...

So sorry I haven't been posting. This week has been really busy with my dad's birthday, and Veronica being here and Andy leaving soon, I just felt like spending time with my wonderful people without worrying about blogging and what not.
But anyway, Veronica just left today and I have a little time on my hands to post while watching Political Animals. Smiles.

So the weekend before last, I hung out with my sister for three whole days and we had a very fun sister weekend. It was great as always, we ate a lot of food truck food (um cheese curds!), watched some movies, and went shopping. We went to the Hester Fair Flea Market in Hollywood since it was only in town for one day. We also saw the Katy Perry movie and I cried. So good. I love spending time with my sissy. Such a successful weekend.

Another taste of heavenly rush...

Inspiration Wednesday! Can you say hell yeah?
Today I'm going to be talking about something incredibly badass and beautiful and that is a recent movie Veronica and I saw which is Snow White and the Huntsman. Especially since I've been obsessed with everything that has to do with this movie from the premiere looks to the wardrobe from the movie to the gorgeous cast. I'll just let you stare at them in peace. I apologize for the photo vomit in advance, I just couldn't decide. Smiles.

So I have a couple things to say about this movie (like I always do). First of all, it was just beautiful to look at. My eyes were permanently ginormous during the entire thing because of how visually stunning everything was. The main cast wasn't hard to look at either. I didn't know who to stare at: Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron or Sam Claflin. By the way, I have a new crush in Sam Claflin, that man is way too pretty for his own good. Everyone did well acting wise, even my girl KStew, who I did not doubt one bit, even though everyone was setting her up for failure. The movie itself was basically Charlize's as Queen Ravenna and that was absolutely fine by me, since she terrified me and looked stunning doing it.
Anyway, so about the movie. I basically loved the hell out of it save for a few things that I was just kind of eh about. I felt that there wasn't enough dialogue, and when there was, it was almost laughable at times, and full of plot holes. The dwarves, who were some of my favorite parts of the film, were played by British actors that were CGI'd onto little person doubles. I still don't know how I feel about that one.
It wasn't full on the romance, which I actually enjoyed, and focused more on the strength of Snow White and her goal to bring down Ravenna. Also, the men focused on admiring her strong will instead of flirting with her which I loved as well. However, the end left me a little hanging with the lack of dialogue, maybe setting it up for a sequel, which I won't understand. But what can you do? I just have to go with it, I guess.
All in all, I loved it and was not disappointed. Snow White is my favorite fairy tale of them all so that's saying something. The different take on the story, and the fact that it was grittier and messier and that Snow White was a badass who wore armor just made me happy. It was great. Smiles.

So yeah. Anyway.
It feels so good to post now that I've gotten some crap school stuff out of the way. This week is my last week of classes and finals start next week, which means I get to go back home. I'm super ecstatic about that.
Finals are going to be poop. Hopefully I can squeeze in one or two posts in between now and Thursday, which is when I move out.
Later my dears.

Also this song is insanely awesome. Check it out.

There are some nights...

THRIFTED DENIM JACKET - DIY/ VINTAGE BUSTIER AND DOONEY BAG/ AMERICAN APPAREL DISCO PANTS/ JEFFREY CAMPBELL LITAS/ ASSORTED JEWELRY

I'm back after a very busy weekend in Monrovia. It seemed so short but so much happened.
I finally saw The Avengers with my parents and my sister after lunch at Cheesecake Factory. We celebrated  Mother's Day a week early since I won't be in town next week. We had such a grand time. The Avengers was absolutely amazing. Go see it. I laughed, I cried, I had every emotion a person could possibly have during a movie.
That night we went to see the spring musical along with some other peeps at my high school, The Robber Bridegroom. My sister and I are theatre alumni so we all went to support our director Marc Segal since it was his last show at Monrovia High School. He's retiring from the drama department, so he'll still be teaching English, but it's just weird for me because I can't imagine anyone else running that place. But he will go on to do bigger things in his acting career, I'm sure of it. So it was very bittersweet.
After a very long and fun night with some of my favorite people, I hung out with my family again the next day. We had a yummy lunch and went to a choir concert at my church which was nice. I started choir at my church when I was in fourth grade and stopped in high school so I had a good six years spending time with wonderful people. We're so very much like a family and I love that we still keep in contact with them.
As far as shopping and stuff goes, I didn't buy anything at all this weekend. Yes, what a surprise. Smiles. I thought about it and realized that the weekend was going to be really short, so I would rather spend time and catch up with people I love instead of spending money. It was kind of the best weekend I've had in a while.

Last note, as you can see, my hair is ombréd. These are the first pictures I've posted on here of my hair even though it's been like a week. It's different, but who doesn't like change every once in a while? Yes.
See you soon.

Everything's on fire...

I know there is supposed to be an Inspiration Wednesday this week but I've had an amazing couple of days with Veronica visiting and seeing my family and just causing chaos with the people I love that I decided to post about those wonderful days. There's a lot to show you guys so this will be Part 1.

Part 1: The Hunger Games at midnight

Yes, I am talking about The Hunger Games again but it came out last Friday and of course I was there at midnight to see it. I had been waiting for this day for so long and carefully planning what I was going to wear and all that jazz. I made a shirt at the last minute making a stencil of the mockingjay pin and spray painting it on a t-shirt I cut up. My blazer was also a DIY with the studs. I covered up some pretty annoying rips on the pocket area and it turned out great. My inspiration was the character of Seneca Crane. If only I had his glorious beard.

It was such a great night. My parents, my sister, Veronica, and I all saw it together at the Arclight in Pasadena which was wonderful since we didn't have to rush to wait in line for the movie. It was still crazy pants though. We had dinner beforehand at Noodle World which was yum as always.

Now let's talk about this movie. If you haven't read the book yet or haven't seen the movie, there might be some spoilers. In other words, stop reading. So I've seen it twice now (don't judge me) and I have to say this movie does really well with incorporating the important things from the book into the movie but also bringing in some new elements to make the film stand out. I get disappointed sometimes when novels are made into films because I expect too much. I expected a lot from this one because it was The Hunger Games, however it left me feeling somewhat content, but only somewhat. I felt that all of the important things were included in the movie. So the people who haven't read the book understood the story fully. Oh and I cried like a big, big baby.
Though that's all fine and dandy, the movie was very rushed. There wasn't enough time to establish characters and relationships, especially the ones that involve Katniss. Just by the way, Jennifer Lawrence was amazeballs as Katniss. She made me cry heaps. Anyway, Katniss doesn't trust easily and the one person she trusted in the Capitol was Cinna, her stylist for the Games. I don't know if it was me, but they rarely spoke. Yet all of a sudden, she had embraced him. Also her relationship development with Peeta needed to last longer than a couple hugs and sweet nothings in a cave. How are non-readers supposed to believe his love for her if all they saw was three minutes of them snuggling? Even the flashback stuff of being the boy with the bread. I loved how that was shot but it didn't give have as strong of an impact as it did in the book. People who haven't read don't know that she was close to starvation and he only burnt the bread so he can give it to her and he risked getting in trouble for it.
I've talked to some friends who had not read the book beforehand and they all said the same thing. They couldn't feel for the characters because they didn't have enough establishment throughout the movie. A couple things I did love: getting to see what happened in the game center, Seneca Crane, Effie Trinket, the acting, the cinematography, and the little braid touch Peeta did before they almost ate nightlock. Yeah my heart died a little.
I mean I could go on about the bits that they forgot to mention (Peeta's fake leg anyone?) but I'll stop before this gets too long.

Anyway, don't you fret because Part 2 won't be this long. Smiles.

By the way, The Civil Wars make this song. Another Hunger Games song. I'm addicted I tell you.

Make you feel...

It is very early in the morning but I have a very busy day ahead of me because, ladies and gentlemen, I am going home for spring break today, which is funny because I'm not even fully packed yet. I decided to post today's Inspiration Wednesday early so I wouldn't forget later.

I can't believe spring break is finally here, which means The Hunger Games. *Squee* We used to get excited that the movie was 55 days away and then 32 days away and now it's actually here and I am way past ecstatic. This week will just be everything Hunger Games. I've mentioned this movie at least once in my most recent posts, I've done two Inspiration Wednesdays on it already, and get ready for a third.
Yes, today's Inspiration Wednesday is about The Hunger Games. Not about the movie in particular, but about one of the best parts of it - the boys. Oh yes, Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne, played by Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

These guys were always on my radar but I had never really fallen for them until now. I mean when you say Josh Hutcherson, I used to think Bridge to Terabithia, but now all I see is his amazing personality, gorgeous smile and smokin' body. I don't usually pine for younger men, but for him I can make an exception. As for Liam Hemsworth, there's a girl named Miley Cyrus in the way, but I've realized that they're actually super cute together. He's just suave, handsome and witty. He's got a lot of my type in him. Can't wait to see these two in action in a couple of days. Smiles.
So basically this just turned into a boy crazy post. But it's okay because now you can enjoy the following photos.

Look for more Hunger Games posts this week, and just a lot more posts in general, especially since Veronica is coming to Monrovia for a couple days. So excited.
Anyway. xo

Another song from The Hunger Games soundtrack. So good.

Hey all!
So I'm back after what seems like forever. Things have been really crappy lately but still alright. So a couple weeks ago, Veronica and I went to a party at her friend's apartment. Just for the record, we never party. Or let me rephrase, we haven't partied in a while. We like to go out and shop or see a movie or something but yeah. So the night that we actually go out, someone spills something on my phone. I went one week without a phone and that seems dramatic but my computer also hasn't been working which explains my absence here. I'm in effing college and my phone and computer weren't working.
But yesterday was good since I got my new iPhone. Yup, I gave in. I will certainly miss my trusty Blackberry. So many memories on that thing. As far as the computer thing goes, I can deal until spring break. There's the library and what not.

This past Friday, Veronica and I had a little date night and saw The Vow. We loved it. Go see it. I'm in love with Rachel McAdams all the time. And I don't usually like Channing Tatum sometimes but his movies that consist of great women, ie. Dear John, always make me like him. Also the fact that his body is not hard to look at, makes it easy to like him as well. Smiles.
So I have a four day break this weekend thank goodness, especially since I haven't been studying for the three exams I have this week. I'm counting the days until spring break which means I come home and The Hunger Games.
So yeah. I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day. And happy anniversary to my parents today. Smiles.
Love you all. xo

This time I'm not leaving without you...

A new year means another birthday.
Today, I turned 20 years old. Yes, I get it, it's not that special. It's kind of the limbo in ages. But hot damn people, it's only boring if you let it. So I won't let it. I swear this year will be one of the greatest amazeballs years ever. I already had a good start. More pictures of the day to come.

Today I celebrated with my family with lunch (and a super cute waiter) at one of my favorite places Mexicali in Studio City, bowling at Pinz, which I haven't played in forever but it was still super fun, and finally we went to go see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol at the Arclight, which was surprisingly very good. I am now at my sister's house just enjoying some downtime and In-N-Out.
My outfit today made me feel very much like Rumi Neely from Fashiontoast. I think we have the same skirt. I felt kinda formal all day too because of the heels and tights, but it was my birthday. It was also weirdly hot today too. Big change compared to last year, when it was raining cats and dogs.

All in all, I had a great day. Tomorrow I will be celebrating my birthday for a third time, this time with my sister and cousins. Last week I had a little something with my friends which I haven't posted about yet but I'm getting there.
Also, just to let you guys know, there won't be an Inspiration Wednesday this week or next week because I'm just trying to get as many posts in as I can before I go back to Santa Cruz. Once I get back to a regular schedule, I will start again. Don't worry. Smiles.

One step closer...

Another Inspiration Wednesday comin' at ya!

Today, my sister and Geo came to visit me for a couple of hours and took Veronica and I out for lunch at where else? Burger. I love them. That post is coming up a little later. We took lots of pictures so don't worry. Smiles.

So I have expressed my liking for the Twilight Saga multiple times on this blog. I'll admit, I do like it. But compare it to Harry Potter, I'll despise it because nothing will beat that. They even copied the two part thing but that doesn't matter. The point I'm making is I actually enjoy it. I'm not afraid to admit it.
Because first, I'm in love with Robert Pattinson (and pretty sure I'd date Kristen Stewart as well). I think the story is only pretty good because I feel it could have been written a whole lot better if it was written by someone else. The movies have gotten better as far as graphics and acting goes which makes me really happy because I was dying in the first one. And this whole thing has been a best friends group social thing. We've all read it and seen it at midnight together since I was a junior in high school.
While I'm a little sad I won't get to see it with the regular crew, I get to see it with bestie
Veronica on a little midnight date tomorrow night and I'm probably going to see the second part with her as well as the crew, next summer. We got our tickets a couple days ago and I am very excited.

So today's Inspiration Wednesday consists of the Twilight Saga throughout the years and
everything I have loved about it. Just to warn you - lots of photos coming up.

Smiles.
Oh and here are some more things from the Christmas Lust List.

I still haven't quite gotten the hang of my Diana camera which sucks balls but I'm trying. I feel like an idiot because I can't work it yet but I still want accessories for it. I realize I just like having things. Anyway.
I saw this a long time ago and thought Eh, people like it a lot but it's pretty plain. But then I saw it on Rumi Neely from Fashiontoast and she styled it so well that I want it now. I love her style. And it's pretty inexpensive for AA.
If you haven't yet listened to the songs on this, I suggest you do. The song for today's post, A Thousand Years, by Christina Perri, is lovely. And the wedding version of Flightless Bird, American Mouth, by Iron & Wine, is just beautiful. I didn't think that song could get any better.
A lot of my favorite things wrapped into one: a soy candle, pumpkin, chai, and rings. Every one of their candles comes with a ring either worth $10, $100, $1000, or $5000. You can't go wrong. You have to burn them and then dig out the ring. It's great. I want one.

I might do a Kristen Stewart promoting Breaking Dawn fashion post soon after all of the hype is over.
