See I'm not afraid no more...

So I'm a little late on showing you guys my birthday shenanigans, but my birthday literally lasted for days. I went home to my parents' house to celebrate and I had an amazing chill time. My senior class president from high school also planned a small reunion for the 2010 class and we all went banana sandwich catching up and what not. It was great and weird and everything I expected from my high school peeps. Then I got back to Santa Cruz and was greeted by more birthday surprises and it was amazing. I love my people. Smiles.

I start class this week so it might be a while before I post again. However it is one of my New Year's resolutions to post more outfits for you all either on the blog or on Instagram or both.
2014 had a little bit of a rocky start so another resolution of mine is to focus on the things that make me happy because I've noticed that it's very easy for me to throw a pity party whenever I feel like it and I don't want to do that anymore. Some great changes happened in 2013 and I plan on having more great changes in my life this year.

Oh and this song makes me happy. See if it makes you happy too. Smiles.

Just hold on we're going home...

I know I know! It's been like a week since I've posted which is really bad.
I mean I was home so I was rarely near a computer, I was going out every night and spending time with people. I got back to Santa Cruz on Sunday and then worked for the next couple of days and then hung out with more amazeballs people that I missed. I was in my own little world with them. To be honest, I'm really happy, which is new for me if you didn't know. You guys who have been reading for a while know that when post something personal on this it's a big deal, and it's usually about problems in my life. But this time it's not so be happy that I'm happy.

Anyway enough with the excuses. I have also missed you amazeballs peeps so I thought I would have a little chat with you before my first class as a senior which is really scary to think about but I kinda stoked on it.
My sissy bear turned 28 this past Saturday and I already miss that lady. I spent the whole day with her and our bam fam and also Veronica since we were lucky enough to still have her in town. And I also spent the night at her house which was super fun. We were in one of my favorite places ever, Pasadena, and we just had a grand old time. Smiles.

I'll update you more on the past week or so when I get more time. Wish me luck on my first day!
Also you will get the rest of the Fashion Week stuffs soon too.

Our song on the radio...

Happy April babes!
I'm back in Santa Cruz after a great break. Today was the start of spring quarter and I'm still trying to ease back into the school groove. I absolutely loved being home and seeing the people I love and just chillin', it's like the best thing ever.
My last night of break I spent with my fambam and we frolicked around Old Town Pasadena and had some amazeballs pizza over at The Kitchen. I had slept over my beautiful sissy's house the night before which was perfect. I miss her already. You may have seen some pictures on Instagram. Earlier Saturday, we found this empty parking lot and decided to take our outfit pictures there. It was pretty random but super fun.

Also have you guys been into the monochrome look lately as much as I have? I've been trying to get into the spring colors but I just can't. I love me my black and white.

BUTTERFLY DRESS - WASTELAND/ LEATHER JACKET - H&M/ ASSORTED JEWELRY/ JC COLTRANES/ TARGET BEANIE

So I turned 21 yesterday!
On New Year's I celebrated with my sister and parents in LA and we had lunch at Tart which was delish. On my actual birthday, I hung out with my parents and then went out for drinks with a couple people in Pasadena. Fun stuff. Smiles.
I feel like I've been celebrating every day. I might as well live it up I guess since I'm going back to Santa Cruz pretty soon. I do miss that place but it's nice being around family and old friends.
But anyway, I got these amazing boots from my family. They know me so well. So thankful.

Hope you guys are having a good week! xo

I'll only stay with you...

Yesterday was my amazing sister's birthday. We celebrated all week and it was pretty bittersweet because I left for school today. I am blogging in a hotel room as we speak.
Last night, Rosee came with me as my date and we went out for drinks with my sis and some of her friends at King's Row Gastropub in Old Town Pasadena. I've gotta say, it's my new favorite night time place. It was pretty hoppin'. I had a great time and she had a great time and I'm glad.
I was really happy I got to celebrate her birthday with her. Since I've been in college we've always celebrated in Santa Cruz every year, but somehow this year it worked out. I love that lady.

I'm going to miss her a lot. xo
See you all again soon, and I'll be in Santa Cruz then! Smiles.

Feet upon the ground...

Hello my dears!
I thought I would finally post something this month since we're about halfway through September already. A lot of stuff has been going on, I've been spending time with my loves, packing for school, and just finishing out my summer as best I can. I went to Disneyland yesterday with my sister and Geo to celebrate her birthday and it was great fun. I will post about that really soon. It's my last week in good old Monrovia so I'll be a busy bee.

So some news: I chopped all my hair off and it's really different but it's new and I love me some change. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably have seen it already, but I will post a picture of the before and after at the end of this post.
Today I've decided to just show you what's been going on in my life through Instagram. Smiles.

New hair yay!
I'll see you guys really soon. xo

No one compares to you...

Part 3 of my spring break posts: Sister time!

Last week I slept over my sister's house. I try to do that as much as I can when I'm home because I love that lady a lot. Of course we had a crap ton of fun. We watched a couple movies, had some wine and an amazing dinner made by Geo. The next day the two of us went over to Old Town Pasadena for some sushi and shopping. We ordered a little too much but it was yummy anyway. We made a whole day of just walking around Pasadena and eating macarons.
I got to finally wear the heels I bought a while ago. They only started hurting after about three hours or so. It was a good day.
Also, when I got home I got to see my bester than all the rest, Jeff, who I haven't seen in ages. We got caught up and it was great and we were just being us. Smiles. We also hung out with some of the crew which is always fun.

So I'm leaving for Santa Cruz in a couple of hours. I just thought I'd sneak in another post before I left. I'm really going to miss Monrovia when I go back.
But anyway. I might have a Part 4 consisting of just Instagram photos from my week. I don't know yet. I might be too busy.
See you all very soon hopefully. xo

Just sing little darling...

Part 2 of my spring break posts: Veronica's last couple of days

Whenever Veronica visits, it's like two weeks combined into four days, which makes us exhausted but I think it's worth it. But it's not like we're hiking or anything, we're shopping and eating which are equivalents to sports in my opinion. Smiles.
We went to The Grove in Los Angeles with the family, Old Town Pasadena, and the street fair on Myrtle later on with Christine. While in Pasadena, I bought my first MAC Cosmetics lipstick which is the Viva Glam Nicki. It's super pink and smells like baked goods and I love it. I'll post about it later maybe. The next day was another long day. We went thrifting with Andy man and bester Kristen at two of my favorite thrift stores and I found great stuff. Some DIY projects in the making. So excited.
We had dinner and boba with the rest of the crew and that was fantast. She left the next day which was a bummer but we had a great weekend. It was perfect timing too since the weather became pretty sucky. Here are photos from the only day I actually took pictures.

Everything's on fire...

I know there is supposed to be an Inspiration Wednesday this week but I've had an amazing couple of days with Veronica visiting and seeing my family and just causing chaos with the people I love that I decided to post about those wonderful days. There's a lot to show you guys so this will be Part 1.

Part 1: The Hunger Games at midnight

Yes, I am talking about The Hunger Games again but it came out last Friday and of course I was there at midnight to see it. I had been waiting for this day for so long and carefully planning what I was going to wear and all that jazz. I made a shirt at the last minute making a stencil of the mockingjay pin and spray painting it on a t-shirt I cut up. My blazer was also a DIY with the studs. I covered up some pretty annoying rips on the pocket area and it turned out great. My inspiration was the character of Seneca Crane. If only I had his glorious beard.

It was such a great night. My parents, my sister, Veronica, and I all saw it together at the Arclight in Pasadena which was wonderful since we didn't have to rush to wait in line for the movie. It was still crazy pants though. We had dinner beforehand at Noodle World which was yum as always.

SHIRT AND BLAZER - DIY/ AMERICAN APPAREL DISCO PANTS/ VINTAGE DOONEY & BOURKE BAG/ DEENA AND OZZY BOOTS

Now let's talk about this movie. If you haven't read the book yet or haven't seen the movie, there might be some spoilers. In other words, stop reading. So I've seen it twice now (don't judge me) and I have to say this movie does really well with incorporating the important things from the book into the movie but also bringing in some new elements to make the film stand out. I get disappointed sometimes when novels are made into films because I expect too much. I expected a lot from this one because it was The Hunger Games, however it left me feeling somewhat content, but only somewhat. I felt that all of the important things were included in the movie. So the people who haven't read the book understood the story fully. Oh and I cried like a big, big baby.
Though that's all fine and dandy, the movie was very rushed. There wasn't enough time to establish characters and relationships, especially the ones that involve Katniss. Just by the way, Jennifer Lawrence was amazeballs as Katniss. She made me cry heaps. Anyway, Katniss doesn't trust easily and the one person she trusted in the Capitol was Cinna, her stylist for the Games. I don't know if it was me, but they rarely spoke. Yet all of a sudden, she had embraced him. Also her relationship development with Peeta needed to last longer than a couple hugs and sweet nothings in a cave. How are non-readers supposed to believe his love for her if all they saw was three minutes of them snuggling? Even the flashback stuff of being the boy with the bread. I loved how that was shot but it didn't give have as strong of an impact as it did in the book. People who haven't read don't know that she was close to starvation and he only burnt the bread so he can give it to her and he risked getting in trouble for it.
I've talked to some friends who had not read the book beforehand and they all said the same thing. They couldn't feel for the characters because they didn't have enough establishment throughout the movie. A couple things I did love: getting to see what happened in the game center, Seneca Crane, Effie Trinket, the acting, the cinematography, and the little braid touch Peeta did before they almost ate nightlock. Yeah my heart died a little.
I mean I could go on about the bits that they forgot to mention (Peeta's fake leg anyone?) but I'll stop before this gets too long.

Anyway, don't you fret because Part 2 won't be this long. Smiles.

By the way, The Civil Wars make this song. Another Hunger Games song. I'm addicted I tell you.

For you, I'll try...

This will be quick or else I'll really stop studying. Smiles.

First of all, happy December everyone! I didn't get to tell you a couple days ago. It's down to the wire for finals. Veronica and I have been having some counterproductive study sessions so today we decided to buckle down. I'm currently in the library trying to be quiet with Veronica. Just saying, that is really hard.
Anyway. It's been a while since I've done a post where I just talked so hopefully you guys enjoy this. I wanted to do a quick Christmas-y post for you all and tell you what I am looking forward to this month.

- Being home in two days.
Monrovia has been hit very hard by the Santa Ana winds which sucks balls because our huge town Christmas tree fell down and our Christmas parade was cancelled this year. The city was out of power for about two days. Wish I was there to stick it out with everyone.

- Seeing friends and family.
I get to eat food that I didn't make and wreak havoc with my besties. Enough said.

- Photoshoots.
I have one planned with my sister which I'm very excited for and I need to plan one with the bestie Rosee Rose. Any more would be amazing as well.

-Baking.
The cake pops were a hit. So yummy treats with my family? I think yes.

- CHRISTMAS.
Every year just gets better and better for me. Hopefully that does not change this year.

- My 20th birthday.
Yes, I will be 20. Finally leaving my teen years. I made it this far. Who woulda thunk?

So yeah. That's all. Sorry if this post was disappointing. No Lust List today either because all of my November posts had things from the list and I'm running out of things on my Lust List to show you. It will only be every other post since Christmas is coming which makes me really happy.
I will leave you with this picture my sissy took on Black Friday of the Christmas tree in Pasadena. Smiles.

Cheers...

I got the best surprise today.

First of all, I cut my bangs again. I want them to be long but not too long by the time it gets to Christmas time. I have a vision. Anyway, today I felt was going to be a good day since I was going shopping in Pasadena with the mother and sissy. We kinda had a girls day which was very fun. But before all that, I was in my room getting ready and deciding what shoes to wear and my sister calls me into the living room. She surprises me with none other than the Jeffrey Campbell Litas that I've been ranting about for forever!!! Now we have matching Jeffrey Campbells since she has the Foxy shoe. Yay! I cried. Seriously. Love my big sissy.

Before all that happened, I decided that today was the day I would take the picture for the Teen Vogue Snapshot Contest. This was the picture I entered. Help me win by finding and commenting me here.

So anyway, I feel grand. How about you all? Smiles.
