Bound to fall in love...

It's late and I should be sleeping, but I have left packing to the last minute yet again. I think it seems to be some sort of tradition for me.
Yes, by the grace of Yeezus, I am going home for Thanksgiving. It's only going to be for a couple days but that is enough for me. I mainly just want to see some awesome peeps, eat food that I didn't buy or make, and take a break from Santa Cruz for even just a little.

I decided I would just do a quick post about my current favorite thing at the moment which is this dress.

It's kind of perfect really, especially since I had been looking for something exactly like this for ages and then it just showed up at work. Smiles.
Also can we please talk about how wonderful Catching Fire was? Go see it if you haven't.

By the way ya'll should watch this version of Kanye's weird ass music video. Thousand times better.

Don't make me stop now...

VINTAGE HEAD WRAP AND LEATHER VEST/ SKELETON TANK - BRANDY MELVILLE/ URBAN OUTFITTERS PANTS

So this past weekend we celebrated my mom's 59th birthday. I love that woman. I want to look like her when I'm 59. She's the best and cutest mom ever. Smiles.
We had lunch in Burbank yesterday and then saw The Bourne Legacy which I enjoyed. Her actual birthday is today so my parents and I had lunch before my dad went to work. I spent the entire day with my mom. It was nice.

Some updates:
- I bought The Hunger Games on DVD last week and I've seen probably fifty times already. Smiles.
- Cool things are happening, cool things like guest blogging and night shoots. Can't wait to show you.
- I've been reading a lot lately. I forgot how much I love it.
- Fall is coming soon. I am ecstatic for knits and boots.
- I'm having a big thrift store shopping day soon with the besties Jeff and Eddie. Yay clothes!

See you beautiful people very soon. xo

Everything's on fire...

I know there is supposed to be an Inspiration Wednesday this week but I've had an amazing couple of days with Veronica visiting and seeing my family and just causing chaos with the people I love that I decided to post about those wonderful days. There's a lot to show you guys so this will be Part 1.

Part 1: The Hunger Games at midnight

Yes, I am talking about The Hunger Games again but it came out last Friday and of course I was there at midnight to see it. I had been waiting for this day for so long and carefully planning what I was going to wear and all that jazz. I made a shirt at the last minute making a stencil of the mockingjay pin and spray painting it on a t-shirt I cut up. My blazer was also a DIY with the studs. I covered up some pretty annoying rips on the pocket area and it turned out great. My inspiration was the character of Seneca Crane. If only I had his glorious beard.

It was such a great night. My parents, my sister, Veronica, and I all saw it together at the Arclight in Pasadena which was wonderful since we didn't have to rush to wait in line for the movie. It was still crazy pants though. We had dinner beforehand at Noodle World which was yum as always.

SHIRT AND BLAZER - DIY/ AMERICAN APPAREL DISCO PANTS/ VINTAGE DOONEY & BOURKE BAG/ DEENA AND OZZY BOOTS

Now let's talk about this movie. If you haven't read the book yet or haven't seen the movie, there might be some spoilers. In other words, stop reading. So I've seen it twice now (don't judge me) and I have to say this movie does really well with incorporating the important things from the book into the movie but also bringing in some new elements to make the film stand out. I get disappointed sometimes when novels are made into films because I expect too much. I expected a lot from this one because it was The Hunger Games, however it left me feeling somewhat content, but only somewhat. I felt that all of the important things were included in the movie. So the people who haven't read the book understood the story fully. Oh and I cried like a big, big baby.
Though that's all fine and dandy, the movie was very rushed. There wasn't enough time to establish characters and relationships, especially the ones that involve Katniss. Just by the way, Jennifer Lawrence was amazeballs as Katniss. She made me cry heaps. Anyway, Katniss doesn't trust easily and the one person she trusted in the Capitol was Cinna, her stylist for the Games. I don't know if it was me, but they rarely spoke. Yet all of a sudden, she had embraced him. Also her relationship development with Peeta needed to last longer than a couple hugs and sweet nothings in a cave. How are non-readers supposed to believe his love for her if all they saw was three minutes of them snuggling? Even the flashback stuff of being the boy with the bread. I loved how that was shot but it didn't give have as strong of an impact as it did in the book. People who haven't read don't know that she was close to starvation and he only burnt the bread so he can give it to her and he risked getting in trouble for it.
I've talked to some friends who had not read the book beforehand and they all said the same thing. They couldn't feel for the characters because they didn't have enough establishment throughout the movie. A couple things I did love: getting to see what happened in the game center, Seneca Crane, Effie Trinket, the acting, the cinematography, and the little braid touch Peeta did before they almost ate nightlock. Yeah my heart died a little.
I mean I could go on about the bits that they forgot to mention (Peeta's fake leg anyone?) but I'll stop before this gets too long.

Anyway, don't you fret because Part 2 won't be this long. Smiles.

By the way, The Civil Wars make this song. Another Hunger Games song. I'm addicted I tell you.

Make you feel...

It is very early in the morning but I have a very busy day ahead of me because, ladies and gentlemen, I am going home for spring break today, which is funny because I'm not even fully packed yet. I decided to post today's Inspiration Wednesday early so I wouldn't forget later.

I can't believe spring break is finally here, which means The Hunger Games. *Squee* We used to get excited that the movie was 55 days away and then 32 days away and now it's actually here and I am way past ecstatic. This week will just be everything Hunger Games. I've mentioned this movie at least once in my most recent posts, I've done two Inspiration Wednesdays on it already, and get ready for a third.
Yes, today's Inspiration Wednesday is about The Hunger Games. Not about the movie in particular, but about one of the best parts of it - the boys. Oh yes, Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne, played by Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

These guys were always on my radar but I had never really fallen for them until now. I mean when you say Josh Hutcherson, I used to think Bridge to Terabithia, but now all I see is his amazing personality, gorgeous smile and smokin' body. I don't usually pine for younger men, but for him I can make an exception. As for Liam Hemsworth, there's a girl named Miley Cyrus in the way, but I've realized that they're actually super cute together. He's just suave, handsome and witty. He's got a lot of my type in him. Can't wait to see these two in action in a couple of days. Smiles.
So basically this just turned into a boy crazy post. But it's okay because now you can enjoy the following photos.

Look for more Hunger Games posts this week, and just a lot more posts in general, especially since Veronica is coming to Monrovia for a couple days. So excited.
Anyway. xo

Another song from The Hunger Games soundtrack. So good.

A brighter day is coming my way...

Yes another Inspiration Wednesday. It's a day late but again you have to forgive me. This might be the last time it will be late since next quarter, my Wednesdays aren't that busy. But anyway.

Once again I will be talking about the amazeballsness that is The Hunger Games. I can't help it since it's down to the wire and there is only a week left before I come home for spring break and see that wonderful movie.
This past Monday, the premiere for the movie happened in Los Angeles and I was really bummed I couldn't be there. But I'm not going to weep and talk about why I didn't get to meet them. I'm going to talk about how good they all looked. Smiles.

My second favorite trio of all time - Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence, and Liam Hemsworth

Elizabeth Banks in Versace and Isabelle Fuhrman in Oscar de la Renta

I had to include Wes Bentley in this. Do I even have to say why? Look at him.

Jennifer Lawrence in Prabal Gurung

Can we please talk about her in this dress? I had anticipated what she was going to wear all last week. In my mind, I was thinking maybe a fiery color like red with a sparkle, or something super sequin-y and her wearing this definitely exceeded my expectations. I recognized it right away since I'm actually using this dress in a future Inspiration Wednesday. I had seen this dress before in Prabal Gurung's Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection and it was absolutely my favorite out of the bunch. Basically, she looked gorgeous. I like when celebrities make good choices.

So anyway, like I said, it's down to the wire. Next week is finals week. It's raining cats and dogs outside and all I want to do is lay in bed. Hopefully I'll still have the attention span to do well on my exams since I'll be thinking about how close I am to going home. I go back to Monrovia on Wednesday so maybe I can sneak in a little inspiration for you guys before I leave. Also, I might not update the blog until then either since I'll be studying all weekend.

Also this song is amazing. It's from The Hunger Games soundtrack. Smiles.

What doesn't kill you...

Thanks to my wonderful computer that functions only when it wants to, my blog posts have been all over the place.
I've been super busy with school which adds to the reasons I haven't been posting a lot. I haven't done Inspiration Wednesday for two weeks now and that is not good. But I hope this Wednesday I can finally post one up for you guys.
For today's post, I decided to just talk about my current loves and favorites and some things that are on my lust list, which is still growing.
So without further ado.

The current favorites.

1. Instagram
Yes. I have become one of those people. And it's great. For those of you who don't know, Instagram is just a way to share photos on your iPhone. It has fun filters to edit your pictures and stuff and I love it. You can follow me if you'd like - @queenvictoriareigns. Smiles.
2. Kate Moss Lipstick Collection for Rimmel London
I recently bought the orange-y toned one on the far right (Veronica did too!) which is called 12. Yeah, they didn't have names. I wish they did because this is such a great collection. Also they're amazingly inexpensive which is also a plus.
3. DIY Projects
During the fall, I ordered a crap ton of studs and I became obsessed. I just finished a little something to wear at midnight for The Hunger Games inspired by the character Seneca Crane (If you don't know who that is, read the book, it'll change your life). This photo is just a sneak peek of it. I'm so excited.
4. Le Specs sunglasses in "Digital Nomad"
I cannot believe I actually won these in a giveaway from Analisa over at Rouge Fox. It's been pretty sunny here so I've been wearing these all the time. However today was not so sunny so it might rain which sucks. But whatever, I'm still in love with these.

And on the Lust List.

1. The Hunger Games merchandise
Of course I want everything they came out with like the Peeta pillow case, the bookmark, multiple shirts, a mockingjay pin, etc. but I particularly love the China Glaze nail polish collection for The Hunger Games that is out now. Today my mother sent me this picture since she was super awesome and got them for me since there isn't anywhere I can get them here. So excited to wear them. Thanks mom!
2. American Apparel Disco Pants
I swore to myself that I would get these. I've been obsessing over them for a really long time. So it's about time that I get them. They go with basically everything and they're just amazeballs.

So there you go. Hopefully I will see you very soon.

Thought of you and where you'd gone...

HAT - F21/ LE SPECS SUNGLASSES/ THRIFTED CALVIN KLEIN SWEATER AND CUTOFFS/ TIGHTS - MOSSIMO/ VINTAGE BOOTS AND DOONEY & BOURKE BAG/ KATE MOSS BY RIMMEL LONDON LIPSTICK IN 12

Hey all!
So I'm back after what seems like forever. Things have been really crappy lately but still alright. So a couple weeks ago, Veronica and I went to a party at her friend's apartment. Just for the record, we never party. Or let me rephrase, we haven't partied in a while. We like to go out and shop or see a movie or something but yeah. So the night that we actually go out, someone spills something on my phone. I went one week without a phone and that seems dramatic but my computer also hasn't been working which explains my absence here. I'm in effing college and my phone and computer weren't working.
But yesterday was good since I got my new iPhone. Yup, I gave in. I will certainly miss my trusty Blackberry. So many memories on that thing. As far as the computer thing goes, I can deal until spring break. There's the library and what not.

This past Friday, Veronica and I had a little date night and saw The Vow. We loved it. Go see it. I'm in love with Rachel McAdams all the time. And I don't usually like Channing Tatum sometimes but his movies that consist of great women, ie. Dear John, always make me like him. Also the fact that his body is not hard to look at, makes it easy to like him as well. Smiles.
So I have a four day break this weekend thank goodness, especially since I haven't been studying for the three exams I have this week. I'm counting the days until spring break which means I come home and The Hunger Games.
So yeah. I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day. And happy anniversary to my parents today. Smiles.
Love you all. xo

You've been running from life...

I don't know why I made Wednesdays my busiest day of the week but I did, and that has come to bite me in the ass a little bit.
I already have three classes and a discussion to go to every Wednesday. But today I just happened to have a billion more deadlines to add to all that and I am exhausted.
Being so busy, I can't believe I almost forgot to post an Inspiration Wednesday.
So here goes.

That's right people. That little thing we have all seen lately: The Hunger Games.
First of all, I never thought I would love a series even a fraction as much as I love Harry Potter. I mean, nothing will beat Harry Potter, but this is pretty damn close, if I do say so myself. And I've fallen in love.
I was a little skeptical about it at first because I was hearing a lot about it and people were comparing it to Twilight and Harry Potter and I was just like seriously guys? But reading it, you find out that it's not like anything else, so I really don't know why it's being compared to anything at all.
But yes, thanks to Veronica and my sister, I am now obsessed with The Hunger Games. I've recently started the second book, Catching Fire, and I am almost done. I seriously cannot wait until the movie comes out which conveniently falls during my spring break. It's going to be so great especially since Veronica is coming to Monrovia too to see it with me and my family. There's just a lot I can't wait to do. Smiles.

Oh by the way, happy February to all!

Wake you up...

VINTAGE JEWELRY, BLOUSE AND LEATHER VEST/ CALVIN KLEIN CUTOFFS/ GIVENCHY TIGHTS/ DEENA & OZZY LACE UP BOOTIES/ REVLON LIPSTICK IN BLACKBERRY

My first weekend in Santa Cruz and I have a four day weekend. It's pretty great.
I only went out once this weekend just to thrift shop a little and get groceries with Veronica but the rest of the weekend we've just been lounging around the apartment eating baked goods and watching stuff on the Netflix queue. It's gotten a little colder this weekend as well so I guess winter is here. More warm clothes and Netflix.

The Golden Globes post is coming soon, once I decide on Best Dress, and also Inspiration Wednesday. I definitely do not want to lose track of this blog.
Some updates:
First, I got a haircut about a week ago. Just a trim, but a significant chunk is gone. But I didn't freak out so much this time, which was weird for me. Maybe I'm close to just chopping it all off.
Anyway, second, I started reading The Hunger Games finally, with much persuading by my sister and Veronica. It's pretty interesting.
And finally, I really want to go to Coachella this year even though I know I won't be going. I want to go to a music festival.

So that's all.
