I woke up like this...

In honor of awards season (Oscar noms were also announced today), I thought I would talk about something that I thought was pretty effing awesome.

And that something is Emma Watson's Golden Globes outfit. It's kinda great.

I mean she did something that I always want to see at these awards shows which is something different. Lately, awards season outfits have been so uniform to me and to be honest I've been really bored with all of it. I get having the ball gowns and what not at the Oscars but for the Golden Globes I feel like you could be more fun and interesting with it.
I loved this idea of the faux gown over pants. How comfortable was she during the ceremony?! She's such a great fashion inspiration (and with such a hot back!). So simple but so risky. One of my favorite parts about this outfit was that she was only wearing one earring.
She's kinda been under the radar recently but this was just like bam! And I knew I had to blog about it.

Bound to fall in love...

It's late and I should be sleeping, but I have left packing to the last minute yet again. I think it seems to be some sort of tradition for me.

Yes, by the grace of Yeezus, I am going home for Thanksgiving. It's only going to be for a couple days but that is enough for me. I mainly just want to see some awesome peeps, eat food that I didn't buy or make, and take a break from Santa Cruz for even just a little. 

I decided I would just do a quick post about my current favorite thing at the moment which is this dress.

It's kind of perfect really, especially since I had been looking for something exactly like this for ages and then it just showed up at work. Smiles.
Also can we please talk about how wonderful Catching Fire was? Go see it if you haven't.

By the way ya'll should watch this version of Kanye's weird ass music video. Thousand times better.

It's in the stars...

So June means I'm super close to summer time however, the weather decided to get into it's gloom phase lately which is dumb. But anyway, to get into the summer mood, I wanted to talk to you about one of my favorite things to wear this season and that is overalls.

Overalls kinda got super trendy this year which I'm all for because I totally forgot about them. We've all worn overalls before because they're just great so I'm glad they're back. Now I want every kind of pair I can get my hands on. I remember my favorite ones that I would wear in high school were this black high-waist not really denim pair that used to be my mom's. There's a photo of the two of us at Disneyland when I was about two and she's wearing them. It's one of my favorite outfits of hers. I just found the overalls the weekend I went home so I can't wait to do an outfit post on them.

All these little things...

It's dead week so finals are next week which means I get to go home soon. 

So basically I almost feel like a zombie but not quite. That doesn't start happening until finals start.

But I did promise some random posts in the absence of outfits. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to see what I'm wearing at this very moment. It's crunch time guys, comfort is key. Smiles.

I'll leave you now with what I'm currently loving at the moment. I might make a post like this every other week to keep you guys updated, maybe call it Fave Fives. Smiles.

1. Velvet everything.

The fabric of royalty and rock gods, I am so in love with this. I feel like anything velvet just adds to an outfit and now that it's winter and holidays-y outside, I look forward to rocking this.

2. Boy bands.

I've been a boy band girl since N*SYNC and the Spice Girls (which I do count as a boy band) so of course I found a new obsession called One Direction. Just don't get me started on these boys, they'll ruin your life like they have mine. Smiles.

3. Cool cats.

If you follow my Tumblr, you know how obsessed I am with cats, actual cats as well as videos of cats and clothes with cats on them, which is pretty sad since I don't even own a cat.

4. Beanies.

It's getting to the point where I basically wear one at some point in the day, every day of the week. If you gave me a beanie I love, I would seriously marry you. Also guys wearing beanies, le swoon.

5. Power naps.

Finals are a crap festival. There's always something I need to do or somewhere I need to go, but when you have forty minutes to spare or even ten, sleep is nice.

Tonight your memories are born...

Hi all! So Part 2 of Veronica's stay will go up next week since the 4th of July just happened and I need to post about the trend of the year which is basically America.

The holiday when America became America. Every hipster in the United States rejoiced with their somewhat vintage patriotic tees and beers in their hands and just had a grand old time.

This American flag trend has been around for years. It was big in the 90's and it's even bigger today. It's all over Pinterest and Tumblr and my sister, who is obsessed.

I found this shirt a couple months ago at a thrift store in Santa Cruz and I fell in love. It's something a grandmother would wear which is one of my favorite things ever when I'm looking at vintage clothes. The shirt isn't an obvious American flag which was nice and come on, it had sequins on it. I had to get it.
I mean, the American flag just looks cool. Plus, you're giving your country some love. It's a win-win.

At first sight and it's real...

It's that time again everyone! An Inspiration Wednesday.

I feel like I haven't done one in forever but I'm finally doing one and I'm super happy.

This week's Inspiration Wednesday is about one of my favorite experiences ever, and that is PROM. My senior prom was amazeballs. I blogged about it here. It has almost been two years since then and sometimes I actually miss it. If I got to go to prom every year for the rest of my life, I would be a very happy lady.

I feel like prom is that one day where you can express the way you dress and show off a different side of you that not a lot of people might know about. People at my high school only found out I had a fashion blog because of prom and I'm glad it happened that way. And plus, it's a night where you get to dress up and look all pretty-like and who doesn't love that? Exactly.

There are different prom trends every year but I don't think people should listen to those. For my prom, I knew I wanted to look different and not have that stereotypical dress that another person might end up wearing too. I thought, what would I wear to the Golden Globes? as cheesy as that sounds.

I found a dress when I wasn't looking for one and when I had no idea what I wanted my dress to look like. But it was expensive, so my amazing aunt/seamstress took a look at a picture of it and made me my own version of it and now I have a one-of-a-kind dress hanging up in my room somewhere. Smiles.

You should stick to what you love and what looks good on your body. But if you need help getting started, I have some suggestions.

1. Be bold.

There is so much you can do to stand out of the regular prom crowd. I went for a color that no one else was wearing and it was great. But that's not all you can do. There are metallics and sequins and big floofy things that can give your dress that extra oomph.

2. Go for the nude.

In a sea of safe black, a champagne-y nude color really stands out. This color can make you look and feel sexy and sweet at the same time. If you're not quite sure about a super bold color or a big ass flowery ruffle on your chest, then this is a good choice.

3. Trust the black.

Yes, I might be contradicting myself a little bit with this one, but sometimes you just have to have that black dress. My junior prom dress was black but it was so different that I had to have it. Basically what I'm saying with this one is, you can wear black, but make sure it blows any bright sequined number out of the water.

Take a walk on the wild side...

Winter Badass.

That is what I want my look to be this winter. Because you can wear anything and look badass as long as you have the necessary items. You'd be surprised at what you can wear and still look like a badass. It surprisingly hasn't been too cold up here yet, so I'm trying to wear the stuff I actually like as much as I can.

I've been watching lots of trend videos for winter time and I came up with a couple looks of my own on Polyvore. I haven't posted like this in a long time so I thought I would. So if you would also like to be badass this winter (yes I said badass like fifty times), keep reading.

I know they're not super winter-y, but hey, I live in California. Smiles.

Hair inspiration.

As you can see, I've been a little bit obsessed with the hair trend, Ombré.

I'm in college, so every chance I get, I'm on the internet just scouring anything and everything. Also, I seem to be getting bored with my hair. Again. I'm growing out my bangs again because I miss not having bangs. And every time I look at Kristen Stewart's beautiful hair, I get sad. So yeah.

There's only so much you can do to long hair without cutting it all off. So what do I think of?

Changing the color of my hair.

I've never dyed it before which makes me a little uneasy. But if I do dye it, it will most likely be Ombré. I'm all about baby steps people.

If I were to do it anytime soon, I think the winner would be Megan Fox's hair. It starts at the perfect length and we almost have the same hair color. Hers is even darker than mine, so if works on her, hopefully it would work on me.

Here's hoping.

Oh and sorry about the lack of outfit posts, and just posts in general. I got sick over the weekend. Still love you all, though. Smiles.

I need your loving like the sunshine...

So I should be reading one of the thirteen books I have to read for my Holocaust class but I have something to say. Also, Veronica and I are eating yummy Burger and about to watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Today, Veronica and I took a bus and studied a little bit at the Starbucks downtown. But only a bit. The stores call to me. I also wanted to look for a birthday gift for the man since his birthday is coming up. I realize I love getting him clothes because he basically looks good in everything.

Since he probably doesn't even read this, I can say that I bought one of his gifts, which is a vintage bow tie. Let me say that I am now in love with bow ties, or just bows in general. I love androgyny and I already wear a lot of men's clothing because it's just amazing but I have yet to try doing the bow tie thing. I tried on Andy's bow tie and took some snapshots on my phone and I think I found something I want to try more often.

Your clothes just fall off, as the day goes...

Summer is dragging on. It's really hot. I'm excited for fall. I always get like this in the middle of the summer.

So there are a couple of fall trends I fell in love with at New York Fashion Week a couple months ago. I look forward to getting cheaper versions of what I saw since I can't afford anything.

I decided that I will share them with you today.

1. Fur - I already have a faux fur vest that was given to me by my sister, but I would like to have a faux fur coat. I don't want it to be too big and I saw some that are perfect.

2. Romance - I have realized I need to dress more girlie. I mean, I like girlie clothes but it all depends on what the piece of clothing looks like. I want something romantic but edgy. Give me black lace. Love it.

3. Fantasy Blood - This shade could be super scary on people, but if it's done right, it's beautiful. It's a rich and beautiful color.

So as we all know, spring is on it's way, which means there are things to look forward to.

Here are just a couple of things:

1. Dark nail polish. I'm thinking a steel gray to match my prom dress (which is in the works by the way), since it won't really match. And I love that.

2. Playsuits, jumpsuits, and rompers. I can't believe I only have one romper. I want another one. End of story.

3. H&M's Spring Swimwear Collection. I can't pick just one. I might mix and match a little. They're all fun.
