Dancing through the fire...

Yes we are well into November and I'm barely posting about shenanigans from Halloween.
It's been a busy couple of weeks with midterms and working and all that good stuff. I feel like I'm always making excuses on here and it makes me mad.
I love talking to you guys about my life and showing you what I'm up to. I promise this month will be better. So here's a little quick post from Halloween night.

There wasn't much time to take pictures since we were havin' a ball but I did the best I could. We mainly just hung out in downtown Santa Cruz which was insane since they close off Pacific Ave. on Halloween night. I hung out with some awesome peeps at the Red Room and it was great.
As for my costume, I knew I wanted to be a zombie of some sort because Veronica is amazing at doing the make up for it and also why wouldn't you want to be a zombie? Duh. Plus I didn't really want to have to buy a costume so I just looked in my wardrobe and found a lumberjack outfit. Plus it was functional and comfortable enough to wear downtown, walking a lot and gettin' dranks and all that jazz. Smiles.

Stuck in her daydream...

It's November hooray!
So Halloween happened a couple days ago. Unfortunately it was a Wednesday - Hump Day.
Some of you probably had some jammin' plans however, this girl curled up with some scary movies and lots of candy. It was great.
Veronica and I kinda celebrated last Friday when we covered this Halloween dance event at school for Slug Style. We got photos of the great costumes, you can see them here. Unfortunately, we didn't have real costumes since we were working but why let that put a damper on the celebration? We showed up in serious zombie make up and it was awesome. Veronica did both of our faces for the night. We got a lot of looks when we were there. I would seriously rock this look if it wasn't so disgusting. Smiles.

Then they dive in it...

So I told you a couple weeks ago that I was going to do some fun Halloween projects this month with Slug Style. I've only been part of the club and going to meetings for a couple of weeks, but it's been really fun so far. It's nice to hang out with people that share the same interests as you and to get inspired by people's ideas that you've never really thought about before. We're starting to get our shiz together about becoming an official club on campus since we're still kind of a baby at the moment. But I'm really excited about what's to come and all the projects we're going to do this year.
Last week, we had our first photoshoot of the year and it was pretty much a success. We all came together  and worked hard but also had great fun. When we were in planning mode, I took the role of stylist with a couple of other people for the shoot. We all went thrifting downtown to look for pieces to style. The shoot was obviously planned for Halloween but the actual theme was "wearable witch" which was right up my alley. Every look we styled I wanted so badly, even though I knew most of it wouldn't have fit me. However, I did somehow end up being one of the models for the shoot because of people not showing up and what not. Yeah, that's me in the hat. Go me doing two jobs!
Veronica did the make up for the shoot (on her birthday no less) and she did a great job. We celebrated later that night with burgers and milkshakes (what else?). Oh and we also did a little impromptu photoshoot that night. It looked so creepy outside, we just had to. Anyway, I thought I'd show you some behind the scenes shots Veronica and I took before and during the shoot. The last one is a little preview I posted on Instagram. Can't wait to show you the final shots. Smiles.

I'm trying to get into the hang of blogging again, at least once a week. It's just been really hard recently especially because I had midterms this week.
But I love you guys and I hope you are having a great October! xo

Forget about the world...

We all know Halloween is coming soon, but I have yet to decide what I am going to dress up as. I have a couple ideas, but if you know me, then you know I can't make decisions for the life of me. There are so many things I want to be for Halloween but unfortunately, Halloween is only one day and I have to choose just one main one. If you don't know what your costume is yet like me, I have some inspiration for you today.

So I love Disney movies and the way they make me feel when I watch them. Even at 20 years old, I would buy anything that has the Disney princesses on it, especially Snow White. I was Snow White for Halloween in my junior year of high school and that was fun times. Now I'm not going to be a princess this year, but if I were, I found a cool way to change it up.
I first saw these on Tumblr and then did some Google magic and found where they actually came from. It's a set of art drawings entitled "Twisted Princess" by this artist Jeffrey Thomas. He basically took every lead female from most of the Disney movies we all know and love and warped them and made them look extra creepy and badass and it's fantastic. There are nineteen drawings in total. They are really amazing, definitely worth checking out. I can't post all nineteen on this so here are some of my favorites.

You guys should definitely check out the rest of them on Jeffrey Thomas's blog by clicking here.
Hopefully this was a good Inspiration Wednesday for you guys. Talk to you soon. xo

Don't judge me on the song choice guys, just sharing my guilty pleasures with ya'll. Smiles.

Yes I know it's the middle of the week, but I still want to tell you about my super fun weekend!
I told you all last week that we had a heatwave in Santa Cruz. Well the next day, it got colder, so it's finally fall here yay. It hasn't been too cold yet so it's pretty nice.
Anyway so on Friday, Veronica and I went on a little date downtown and went to see The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. I'm still reading the book, but I couldn't wait, and it was totally fine. Okay, I am so in love with this movie! I can't even explain it. From what I've read so far, it stayed pretty close to the book, and Veronica read the whole thing and she loved it too. Just go see it. It might become one of your favorite movies.

I felt like this weekend was just all shopping. Wow that sounds really bad, but it really was just a lot of shopping. Saturday was dedicated to Target as you can see. I can seriously spend hours in that amazing place. Their Halloween stuff is out now too so Veronica and I went crazy. We filmed a little Halloween haul over on her channel which is going up soon. I'll link it in this post later when it's up. Smiles.
On Sunday, we basically spent the entire day thrifting and vintage shopping. I was so exhausted afterwards. Shopping takes a lot out of you, I'm serious. First, we went to Bargain Barn, which is just a warehouse full of goodies basically and went through everything. We were very happy with what we found, I'll tell you that. There might be a haul coming on that stuff too. Later we met up with some Slug Style buddies to look for some photoshoot inspiration. I won't give anything away yet, but I can tell you I'm very excited. I can't wait.

I might be starting up Inspiration Wednesday again soon, and posting some Halloween-y things for you too. I want to celebrate it as much as I can this year since I didn't have the time last year.
So yeah, I hope you guys had an amazing weekend too. xo

Here's our haul from Target. Smiles.

I'd make my move...

"On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was..."
I do this every year and quote Mean Girls on here because I mean, you just have to, it's inevitable.

I realized I never posted about my sister's Disneyland birthday extravaganza, so I will be doing that now. I think it's perfect timing too since it was all Halloween-themed when we went, even though it was still the middle of September. Now it's finally October and Halloween is coming really soon. I need to figure out what I'm going to be.
It feels like I went to Disneyland like last week, I miss it so much even though it was hot as balls that day. There has been a heatwave in Santa Cruz the last couple of days so that really got me reminiscing about summer. I also miss my sister boo so this post is very well-timed. Plus I haven't done an outfit post in forever so here's one to get you through the day. Smiles.

I'll have some Santa Cruz-y posts coming up soon, I had to finish getting settled into my apartment and all that jazz. Also, classes started last week so I've been getting used to my schedule. A lot of fun things are going to be happening with Slug Style and Halloween coming up. I'm super excited.
See you all very soon. xo

P.S. A big ol' happy birthday shout out to my kindergarten buddy Jimmy Jam who turned 21 today! Love that guy. Smiles.

Oh fantasy free me...

Happy almost Halloween!
The people here have been dressed up in their costumes since the beginning of last week so I guess we've been celebrating for a while.
But just to ourselves. We've been busy all weekend but not too much to skip Halloween altogether. I had three complete costumes this weekend.

1. The first was just a little something I put together for Rocky, a homage to Columbia if you will, since I sparkled like the night sky. I still would like her entire outfit please. But anyway. Once again we saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It's tradition. Smiles. I didn't know what makeup to do for the outfit so I just decided on who else? Lady Gaga and her "Judas" makeup. And that's Veronica in all her Magenta-ness.

2. Being a zombie is fun. Enough said. Just look how disgusting Veronica looks. Smiles.

3. And what can I say about our mother monster Lady Gaga? I absolutely loved doing her "Born This Way" zombie look for Halloween. Wouldn't you? Exactly. I just wish my hair was longer. And pink.

Anyway. I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween weekend.
xo

We are stars...

Warning: Veronica birthday photos overload. Smiles.

Celebration Day #1 (technically #2 since #1 was the Cokes toast)
Veronica and I went to Burger with Norma and Marcy (it was also her birthday) and it was yum. The photos speak for themselves. The shirt I wore I bought that day, and I cut the shoulders off of them. For being the first time I've done it, I was pretty happy with it. And the burger was amazing as always. Oh and horchata shakes. Enough said.

To see the entire day, watch Veronica's birthday video here.

Celebration Day #3
We went to the gym on this day mind you. But that didn't stop us from going to Trader Joe's and buying a meringue cake for Veronica. I have to say it was crazy good. Especially with pumpkin ice cream all over it. Highly recommend it. Unfortunately we don't have any pictures of us being gluttonous so that benefits you. Smiles.

Celebration Day #4
Love this day. So Vern and I went on a date downtown to Pizza My Heart which is always good. It was packed so we were lucky we got a table. We took some pictures in the restaurant and went over to this building a couple blocks up and took more pictures. A lot of them were on her film camera so I might update you guys on that. I actually curled my hair for the first time in a while so I felt really girly.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. I'm glad Veronica had a great time even though she wanted to go home for the weekend. I did too, but we had each other and that's always good.
I really miss home. I'm counting the days until Thanksgiving. But Halloween weekend is going to be insane. Veronica and I will probably have a different look each night. I'm excited to show you all. Smiles.
