Because it's simple darling...

Yes it's almost the middle of the month and I've not been living up to what I promised. Time has been very precious lately so the moments when I actually have some, I just want to spend time with the people I love. With that, midterms, work and New York Fashion happening, I've been in a little bit of a busy pickle.
But anyway, with that being said, I've decided to do a post on the best weekend I have had in a while. The man and I finally had some days off to hang out so yesterday we took a day trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and had a grand old time. It was just nice being in a different city and exploring and what not.

It had been raining so the outfit I wore was pretty casual and functional. I felt super collegiate in this adorable crochet detailed top so I had to toughen it up a little with the jacket.

Sorry about the picture spam, but I'm not really. Smiles.
I had such an amazing couple of days and I can't wait for more. I even went thrifting a little bit today, which I haven't done in so long. I found some cute spring things I'm stoked to show you.
This month started off so great and I have a feeling it's going to get better. Also who's excited at all of the Fashion Week stuffs? I know I am. I plan on having a round up of my faves soon on here.
Love you babes.

Some people talk about ya...

It's always hard deciding on my favorites from Fashion Week. But I did manage to do it.
I know I know, London's done and Milan is happening, I am well aware, but other things needed to be blogged. I am also currently home in Monrovia at the moment so I've been a busy bee.
With that said, here are my faves from NYFW.

Sass & Bide
This show was so polished but also fun and that's really difficult to pull off. I loved the mix of masculine cuts with the feminine details. This was one show that used a lot of white that I actually enjoyed.

Peter Som
There were so many pieces from this collection that were easy to wear. It wasn't some production but actual clothes that people can buy. The cuts were so fluid it was amazing. A great mix of patterns and fabrics that somehow all worked together.

Altuzarra
Another show that showcased real life wear. This collection made separates sexy even with the random mix of that blue patchwork print and all the fun fringe. And gah that last silver dress, gorge.

Rebecca Minkoff
I love the sporty Frida Kahlo thing that was happening here. Racing stripes and lace? Who woulda thunk? And color. Thank you. Also, Janelle Monáe, enough said.

Alexander Wang
I wanted sexy sets for spring and these were sexy. I also loved that the colors were muted. There was a lot of white at NYFW and I was getting annoyed by the end. The mens fabric took me by surprise but it was a nice change.

Opening Ceremony
More color yay. For their first runway show, this was pretty epic, straight up street badasses. There was a good mix of high fashion and streetwear and you don't get a lot of that nowadays. It was definitely not the plain whiteness that people were starting to get used to during NYFW. Loved it.

I fell in love with a lot of others, many honorable mentions. Jeremy Scott with the teenage aliens, Steven Alan got me with those reflective sunglasses, and Rodarte is always gorgeous to watch.
A couple things:
I'm currently in LA at the moment so I will try to get you London and Milan Fashion Weeks to you quickly. I might sneak in an outfit post from a couple weeks ago as well.
Another thing, if you don't already know from my Instagram, I chopped all my hair off. It was a pretty spur of the moment decision, but I have been planning on cutting my hair for a while now. Change is good, and there have been some really good changes in my life at the moment. Smiles.

We crave a different kind of buzz...

More Vegas stuff for ya!
This was what I wore later on in the night after all the hardcore shopping we did earlier in the day. We got all dolled up for my momma's birthday and had an awesome dinner at the Paris Hotel and saw a show there.
It's unfortunate that I didn't get more photos of my outfit but we worked with what we got. The dress I wore has this amazing lace panel that spans my entire back and it's amazeballs.
I miss Vegas so much.

Anyway so we're almost done with this Vegas thing, don't worry. I got some fun New York Fashion Week stuff coming soon and a recent outfit post from this last Friday in San Jose.
Another thing, I'm going home for a couple days next week and I'm going to have a ball. Smiles.

Also in honor of today, we'll never forget. RIP to the victims of 9/11.

I'm ready for ya...

I thought I'd finally do my New York Fashion Week round up. I know I'm a little late and even London Fashion Week has come and gone already but it's okay. Better late than never right?
A lot has been going on so I didn't have too much time to blog. My parents came up to visit last week and we had a nice dinner and the next day I went to LA for the weekend (I will blog about that soon). I got my wisdom teeth out which was balls but I'm slowly but surely recovering which is nice. This school week has been stressful as well so I am very happy to say that I finally have a break to chat with you. Smiles.
So I'm very excited to show you my favorite shows from NYFW. It was a tough decision but I hope you all enjoy. I know I did.

Jeremy Scott
Okay call me crazy but this was my favorite show from NYFW. I know right, who knew I liked colors? Lately I've been super into this mix of urban street grungy punk-ness so these looks were right up my alley. I loved the cartoon graphics right away when miss bad bitch Cara Delevingne started the show in this awesome puke-y fantasy two piece. I was greatly confused but so in love with it all. Some pieces I could have done without but that happens with every collection. I felt like Jeremy Scott took a teenage boy's bedroom in the 90's, chewed it up and spitted it out. It was perfectly controlled chaos and just amazeballs. I'm "too weird to live" too, now give me that sweater cool thanks.
Update: It is very unfortunate that certain pieces from his collection have brought attention to the fact that Scott had taken artists' designs without their permission to use them for his clothes. The discourse of fashion is a risky business that we all have come to understand. Fashion ripping off youth culture is not an entirely new concept in this industry which is disappointing but what can you do? Jeremy Scott can only wait for the consuming public's reception of his pieces and see if he has hurt himself with his choices.

3.1 Phillip Lim
The whole show had this biker babe feel to it which I loved. I thought the show started off a little eh for me, which is not necessarily a bad thing because the looks were gorgeous, but just not for me. I think it was because I wasn't into the colors at the beginning but then they got darker and I was ecstatic. Awesome outerwear really dominated this show, I was really into the half lapel thing that was happening with the coats. I thought every look was polished but rough at the same time which was totally badass.

Jonathan Simkhai
I know he's known for his California cool looks, I've seen good ol' KStew wear a couple of his pieces before and I was really surprised that I actually like him. His looks had this sporty tomboy feel which I'm usually opposed to, but I was really into this collection. I love the quirkiness of all of it and the mix of girly and tomboy with the ruffles and athletic sweaters. They're just fun and cool pieces and it was quite a refreshing collection.

Alice + Olivia
I had such a hard time deciding what looks to choose from this collection. I loved a lot of it which is very rare for me with collections. I felt that there wasn't an obvious cohesiveness between the looks but I ended up loving that aspect of it. There were so many textures used and mixed together, the styling was just perfection. The looks were all so different that there is definitely something for everyone. There was an easy cool about the pieces, I knew if I wore one of them, I'd instantly feel just amazeballs.

Hervé Léger by Max Azria
This was a close second to Jeremy Scott for me, which is weird because they were nothing alike. Let me just say, Hervé Léger is usually not my style. I mean I would love to rock a body-con dress if I could but I can't but that's my own problem. I was expecting the usual sexy tight bandage dresses, but this collection was that and more, definitely not what I expected. All of the models were covered up but somehow still managed to be sexy as hell. I mean sexy sweatpants? Who would of thunk? And sorry Hervé Léger, you can't add baseball caps and expect to lower your sexy factor, but it's okay, I thank you kindly for that. Absolute love.

I had a lot of honorable mentions like the gorgeous lavender and prints at Thakoon, the to-die-for quilted pants at Theykens' Theory, and the sexy spies with the all black everything at Kaufmanfranco.
Definitely expect a London Fashion Week favorites post soon. Smiles.

xo

Light em up...

I'm finally back lovelies!
I apologize for the massive break I took from blogging. How long has it been, almost a month now? Sheesh. I didn't even know it was happening until I woke up one day and thought I'm totally missing something in my life right now and that was blogging and rambling to you guys. Smiles.
I owe you all some sort of explanation, but it all basically comes down to school. This quarter has blessed me with no exams but it's papers galore which is really stressful. I can't wait to go home this weekend, even though it's only to get my wisdom teeth taken out. But nothing can ruin this weekend, not even wisdom teeth, because Topshop LA is opening this Thursday and I'm super stoked.

So those were some updates for you. Now for the actual post, it's an outfit finally!
I bought this coat a couple weeks ago from Urban Outfitters and it's all I've been wearing, especially at night when it gets really cold here. You may have seen an outfit of the day picture with me wearing it on Instagram. Anyway, I'm in love with it. I love how I can wear it with basically anything and the Zara-esque feel it has. I'm just glad it hasn't been raining a ton here like it usually does during the winter. It's just been nice and sunny and cold.
I picked this spot to take photos since the very nice man behind me told me I'm beautiful. He told everyone else too. Smiles all around.

Also who's been obsessing over NYFW? I know I have.
Look forward to my favorites from NYFW soon. xo

Oh and FOB is back! Listen to this goodness!
